Hello everyone + Happy Monday! I am so excited to be continuing this inspiring series called Monday Muse and to be featuring the beautiful Sophia Andries this week!
Sophia and I first met in April 2016 when I was looking for models to present my Senior Thesis collection at the UW-Madison annual Threads Fashion Show. All of the Seniors were able to pick models from the Rock Agency since the faculty felt the Senior Thesis collection should be presented on more professional models. Sophia was only 16 at the time but you never would have guessed because she looked so mature for her age. I remember her lovely mother, Tammy, came with to the fitting and both Tammy and Sophia were so excited to be participating in the show.
Fast forward two years later and Sophia is still modeling in shoots and walking the runway wearing Madalyn Joy Designs. It is so exciting to have someone be a part of your journey from the very beginning and to be able to watch each other grow together. It was so wonderful that Sophia's family attended the Miracle on the Runway Fashion Show in December and cheered Sophia on while she was walking the runway. It is rare to find that kind of support and encouragement but Sophia's family has her back 100%!
Sophia is planning to hopefully do some traveling for modeling this year and as much as we all will miss her here, I can't wait to see where her modeling career will take her this year! Sophia, you are so beautiful and talented and I can't wait to watch you continue to grow as both a model and woman. You will truly achieve whatever you put your mind to! You'll always be a Madalyn Joy angel no matter where life takes you!
I can't wait to see where your modeling career takes you next! xoxo
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I am 18 years old and currently a student at Columbia College Chicago studying Interior Architecture. Along with working toward my bachelors degree I have also been a model for The Rock Agency for three years and I am looking forward to continue working in the field. Modeling has led me to something new. I competed in my very first pageant for the title of Miss Wisconsin Teen USA 2018 and I am grateful to say I took 1st Runner Up.
How did you get into modeling?
I got into modeling when I was 11 years old by participating in a scouting event called ProScout. After the event, I had several callbacks, and I signed with BMG Models of Chicago. The last three years I have been with The Rock Agency in Wisconsin.
What is your favorite part about modeling?
My favorite part about modeling is being able to embrace different personas based on the hair, makeup, and wardrobe I am wearing. I love the different emotions and empowerment I feel behind each different look. For me itβs like how an Actor is with their character.
What is your least favorite thing about modeling?
My least favorite part about modeling would be when the photoshoot entails taking photos outside in the coldest part of winter. However, when the time comes, the perfect shot must be taken. Do it for the picture.
What has been your favorite modeling experience (i.e. show, shoot, event)?
My favorite photoshoots were when I modeled for Columbia College Photography students in the Penthouse of The Hilton Hotel in Chicago. If the two story hotel room wasnβt enough, I was also able to wear the white Hilton robe while I had my hair and makeup done. Then, it was straight to work in a designer gown and some fabulous heels.
What was your most beautiful and confident moment?
My most confident moments are when I am on the runway showcasing beautiful designer garments. Each design gives me more and more confidence, whether that be when wearing athletic clothing or lingerie by Madalyn Joy Designs.
Who is your muse/inspiration?
I am inspired by Karlie Kloss because she is a role model not only in the beauty industry but also in the tech industry. Her program Kode with Klossy empowers girls to learn to code and become leaders within the tech industry.
Fun fact?
I broke six different bones in my face at one time.
Looking forward to most in 2018?
I am looking forward to focusing on modeling and traveling as much as I can in 2018.
What are your modeling goals?
Modeling goals I have for myself include, being on the cover of a high circulation fashion magazine, walking in NYFW, and becoming a Victoria Secret model.
