Hello everyone + Happy Monday! I am so excited to be continuing this inspiring series called Monday Muse and to be featuring the stunning Skylar Witte this week!
Skylar and I officially met backstage at Milwaukee Fashion Week this past September; however, I have been a long time admirer and followed along on her journey as Miss Wisconsin USA 2017. It is always a magical moment meeting someone for the first time after being friends on social media for months! I remembered Skylar walked in backstage and was even more blonde, beautiful, and bubbly than I could have imagined. She was so sweet and genuinely so thankful and appreciative to be walking in the show. It truly feels like we have known each other for much longer than only a couple of months. It just is a testament to Skylar's warm and welcoming personality!
Skylar most definitely is a blonde bombshell, but she also is an inspiring young woman. She spent her year as Miss Wisconsin USA 2017 speaking to middle schoolers about the importance of following their dreams and the hard work it takes to make them become a reality. Of anyone, Skylar knows the importance of hard work and how it truly pays off in the end, especially when a sparkly tiara is involved. :)
Skylar, it truly has been a privilege and an honor to know you and work with you as a model but also as a friend! As you mention later on, I love surrounding myself with girl bosses as well and you are 100% the definition of a girl boss. Your reign as Miss Wisconsin was only the beginning and you are going to achieve so many great things! You have the passion, drive, and determination to make your dreams become a reality. Keep being you and shining bright!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I am 20 years old and currently studying Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Outside of being a student and model, I am also a blogger and have been running my own blog page and website for the past 2 years. I was blessed to be crowned Miss Wisconsin USA 2017 and was able to spend my year speaking to middle school students about working hard and following their dreams, a mission I have continued since giving up my title in September!
How did you get into modeling?
My first ever modeling job was truly a twist of fate and a dream come true. A friend had shared information for an open call for a national campaign being shot in Dallas for dress designer - Vienna Prom. I submitted senior photos, on a whim, and the rest is history. The photos ended up being featured on seventeen.com and this is what sparked my personal drive to not let anything stop me from chasing after my dreams and to remind young people to do the same.
What is your favorite part about modeling?
Meeting new people and creating new friendships. I have made some of my closest friends in the modeling world and Iβm constantly surrounded with girl bosses who build each other up (like Madalyn)!
What is your least favorite thing about modeling?
I really donβt dislike anything about modeling, aside from the fact I donβt get to do it all the time!
What has been your favorite modeling experience (i.e. show, shoot, event)?
Since my modeling career began, I have been working as a traveling model for Mac Duggal and had the privilege to walk at New York Fashion Week last Spring. That was a moment I had worked very hard for, it was extremely surreal!
Most beautiful + confident moment:
2 moments: 1. The swimsuit competition at Miss USA, I was so proud to show the body I had worked months for. 2. Walking for Madalyn Joy Designs at Milwaukee Fashion Week, it was a reminder to me that my body is beautiful and healthy always as long as Iβm confident!
Who is your muse/inspiration?
My little brother - he is the most fearless person I have ever met and reminds me to embrace every part of what makes me ME!
Fun fact?
I always have my toenails painted (I have for at least 10 years).
Looking forward to most in 2018?
Spending more time with my family and friends!
Modeling goals:
Continue to grow and take chances, and encourage others to do the same!
